Privacy Policy

Proxv is built to know as little about you as possible. There is no account and no analytics, and your traffic never passes through us. This policy explains what the app stores, where it's stored and who can see it.

1. Who we are

Proxv is developed and published by Kamil Misiag, an individual developer based in Poland ("we", "us"). For the limited personal data described in this policy, we are the data controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

You can reach us at support@proxv.io about anything in this policy.

2. What we don't collect

Proxv has no user accounts and no backend that your data is sent to. Specifically, we do not collect:

  • your name, email address, phone number or any other account details;
  • the websites you visit, the content of your traffic, or connection logs;
  • your IP address or location;
  • the list of servers you use or their credentials;
  • usage analytics, advertising identifiers or device fingerprints.

Proxv contains no advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not track you across apps or websites.

If you have turned on Share with App Developers in your device's privacy settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and diagnostics. That is governed by Apple's privacy policy, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

3. Data stored on your devices

To work, Proxv stores the following on your own devices. We have no access to any of it.

DataWhere it's stored
Server listNames, addresses, ports, protocol settings and credentials such as passwords and UUIDs. Stored on the device and synced through your iCloud account.
WireGuard and SSH private keysStored only in the Keychain of the device where you added them. They are never synced to iCloud or anywhere else.
SettingsDNS resolver, custom DNS-over-HTTPS URL, MTU and connectivity test URL. Stored on the device only.
Test resultsLatency and reachability results for your servers. Stored on the device only.
Diagnostic logsTechnical logs of the app and its network extension. They can include server addresses; passwords and keys are redacted. Stored on the device and never sent automatically. They leave the device only if you tap Export Logs and choose where to share them.
Subscription statusChecked on the device through Apple's StoreKit.

To remove this data, delete servers in the app: deleting a WireGuard or SSH server also deletes its private key from the Keychain, and deletions sync to your other devices. Deleting the app removes its local data from that device, but the operating system may keep Keychain items and the iCloud copy of your server list, so delete your servers first if you want everything gone.

4. iCloud sync

Your server list syncs between your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV using Apple's iCloud key-value storage in your own iCloud account. Apple stores and transmits this data under the Apple Privacy Policy; we cannot access it.

Credentials that are part of a server's configuration, such as passwords and UUIDs, are included in the synced list. WireGuard and SSH private keys are deliberately excluded and stay on the device where you added them. You can stop syncing by turning off iCloud for Proxv in your device's Apple Account settings.

5. Network connections Proxv makes

Proxv only connects to the services below. None of them is operated by us.

Proxy and VPN servers you add

When you connect, your apps' traffic is sent to the server you selected. The operator of that server can see your IP address and the destinations you connect to, and can see the content of any traffic that isn't separately encrypted (most websites use HTTPS, which keeps the content private). We don't operate, vet or control these servers. Only use servers you trust, especially free servers shared online.

DNS resolver

While connected, Proxv resolves domain names with DNS-over-HTTPS using the resolver you choose in Settings (Cloudflare, Google, Quad9 or a custom URL). These lookups are sent through your proxy server, so the resolver sees the domain names you look up and the server's IP address, under that resolver's privacy policy.

Connectivity tests

When you test servers, Proxv requests a small connectivity-check URL, by default https://cp.cloudflare.com/generate_204, through each server being tested, and directly over your network to check that your network can reach it. The recipient (Cloudflare by default) receives an ordinary web request from the server's or your device's IP address. You can change the test URL in Settings.

Apple services

The App Store, StoreKit and iCloud are provided by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy.

6. Permissions

  • VPN configuration. iOS, iPadOS, macOS and tvOS ask you to allow Proxv to add a VPN configuration. This is required to create the device-wide tunnel. The system notes that a VPN app can monitor network activity; Proxv does not record or inspect your traffic.
  • Camera (iPhone and iPad, optional). Used only to scan QR codes containing server links. Images are processed on the device and are not saved or sent anywhere.
  • Local network (optional). Used to check whether servers on your local network are reachable.

7. Purchases

Subscriptions to Proxv Unlimited are sold and processed by Apple. We never receive your name, email address or payment details. Apple provides developers with aggregated sales and subscription reports that do not identify you. Purchases are subject to Apple's terms and privacy policy.

8. Support emails

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, such as exported logs. We use this only to answer your request and to fix problems you report. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing support, or taking steps at your request (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) and 6(1)(b)). We keep support correspondence for as long as needed to resolve the request and normally delete it within 24 months. Please don't send passwords or private keys; logs exported from Proxv already have credentials redacted.

9. This website

proxv.io is a static website hosted by OVHcloud (OVH SAS, France). It uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party embeds, and its fonts are served from the same server. As with any website, the hosting provider's servers automatically record technical access logs, such as IP address, date and time, requested page and browser type, to operate the service and protect it against abuse. These logs are kept for a limited period set by the hosting provider. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

10. Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or another region with similar laws, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because Proxv doesn't collect personal data, most of these rights are best exercised directly on your devices, by editing or deleting your servers or deleting the app. For anything we do hold, such as support emails, write to support@proxv.io and we'll respond within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Poland, this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw. You can also contact the authority in your own country.

11. Children, security and changes

Children

Proxv is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Security

Secrets that can be stored separately, namely WireGuard and SSH private keys, are kept in the system Keychain. Logs are redacted before they can be exported. Because we don't run servers that hold your data, there is no central database that could be breached.

International transfers

We don't transfer your data ourselves. Apple, and DNS or test-URL providers you choose, may process data outside your country under their own terms and safeguards.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Proxv handles data, we'll update this page and the effective date above. For material changes, we'll also let you know in the app or in the App Store release notes before they take effect.
